Decanted
We get it: Burgundy can be overwhelming—and that’s coming from a Burgundy-focused importer! With hundreds of appellations, rising prices, and vintages that vary from year to year, it’s easy for certain wines to get lost in the shuffle. Domaine Denis Mortet’s Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Cinq Terroirs is one of those hidden gems. On its owan, it’s a perfect snapshot of Gevrey-Chambertin—perfumed, precise, and full of energy. But when Mortet’s 1er and Grand Cru bottlings take center stage, this wine can be overlooked, making it one of the best buys in Burgundy.
Sourced from five old-vine parcels on the region’s northern slope, Mes Cinq Terroirs reflects owner Arnaud Mortet’s philosophy: organic farming, low yields, and a light touch in the cellar (less new oak, no fining, no filtration). The result is an expressive, nuanced wine that’s a joy to drink now and will age gracefully. Think of it as the Porsche of the village category: technically the same class as the, but operating on an entirely different level.

“Mortet is at the top of his game today…supple, perfumed, with depth and flesh at the core…” – William Kelley, Wine Advocate
“Arnaud Mortet…a showcase of his winemaking talents, packed with flavor and complexity, and a reflection of their respective terroirs.”- Antonio Galloni, Vinous
About the Domaine
Founded by his grandfather in 1956 then greatly elevated by his legendary father Denis, Arnaud Mortet has led Domaine Desis Mortet since 2006, working alongside his sister Clémence and mother Laurence. He carries forward his father’s legacy of creating refined, elegant wines. Arnaud’s wines are reaching new levels as the winemaker has been embracing more traditional vinification and viticulture techniques. Arnaud’s wines are regularly praised for their outstandingly precise nature and the future of this estate is in excellent hands.
